So back in February, I posted about Chris Marvel getting injured in a scooter incident. Seems like it's time for an update:
Chris went through a few surgeries on his leg, has gone through months of rehab, and has generally been doing pretty good getting around. He even made it out to the last event at TWS and raced with us. Good stuff.
Without the ability to run or even walk for long distances, it's hard to get a good workout and get back in shape. Unless you can kayak. That provides an excellent workout using only your upper body. More good stuff.
Until Sunday that is. While trying to put his kayak on top of his truck, he slipped off of the step stool he was using and fell down, went boom. Result: fracture of his femur... in the same leg as before. After a ride to the hospital in an ambulance and more surgery, Chris is back home again with two more screws in his leg.
Apparently he was disappointed that he didn't set off every metal dector at every airport and wanted to ensure that he had enough metal in him to be delayed every time.
Hopefully he will be back up again and strong for the start of the new race season.

Ho-Lee-Cow ...

Chris had got to come to terms that he is not a 200lb 10 year old again.
Good luck Chris.
1. Frank, Congrats on your kiddo making Dad proud.
2. Richard, please let Chris know that we are pulling for him..... again. And to not let it happen again. We're serious this time. Or he loses his racecar privileges (as we say around my house with the kids) :D
WOW...this has been a year Chris would like to forget.
I hope he gets well soon.
Geez that sucks. New break or re-broke the old one?
New break at a minimum. Imposible to tell if he rebroke the old stuff because there is too much metal in the way. There was no displacement so it's not actually relevant (expept for that pain thing).Quote:

I hate to say that is good to hear but it is much better than the alternative. Best of luck on a speedy and permanent recovery.Quote:
